Salam Humanitarian Foundation (SHF) is expanding its community-based health and psychosocial efforts to address emerging social health challenges in the post-conflict context of Northwest Syria. Our team regularly implements a wide range of community health activities that complement SRHR and protection services, including:

  • Conducting structured awareness sessions on reproductive health, nutrition, and prevention of epidemics (e.g., COVID-19).
  • Referring individuals in need of urgent medical care to hospitals and specialized medical centers.
  • Offering targeted interventions for social and family issues, especially among conflict-affected populations.

In response to rising concerns about substance abuse and suicide, SHF has integrated specialized psychosocial support through:

Addiction prevention and recovery activities, including:

  • Awareness sessions on the risks of drug use and alcohol dependency.
  • Support groups for individuals struggling with addiction, fostering peer solidarity.
  • Referrals to appropriate rehabilitation and treatment services.

Suicide prevention initiatives, such as:

  • Community workshops on recognizing early warning signs.
  • Training caregivers and staff on how to respond safely and empathetically.
  • Establishing a crisis hotline offering confidential counseling and emergency support.
  • Distribution of essential supplies, including milk, hygiene kits, and nutritional supplements for pregnant women, particularly in underserved areas.
  • These integrated actions reinforce SHF’s holistic approach to well-being, addressing not only physical SRHR needs but also urgent mental and psychosocial health priorities. The intersection of reproductive health, mental wellness, and community resilience remains central to our mission to restore dignity, safety, and hope for marginalized women and girls.
